The 2010 Oceania Championships will be held from the 12-21 February. Incorporating both canoe slalom and canoe sprint events, the Oceania Championships will also feature an international coaching conference (15-16 February) and Come & Try days for both flatwater paddling (13-14 February) and whitewater paddling (20-21 February). The canoe sprint event will be held on the weekend of the 13-14 February at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, and will include Olympic 200m, 500m and 100m events and Para Canoe Events in Senior, Under 23 and Junior age groups. Entries open December 1. Cash prizes on offer for Olympic distance races. “Paddling Power”, and international coaching conference, will run from the 15-16 February at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra. Key speakers include Germany’s Stefan Ulm and Ute Plessman, who are renowned for the success of junior-senior pathways. Canadian John Edwards will also present, along with Australian Olympic coaches and Australian athletes, who will speak about the success of the Australian Canoe Slalom and Sprint team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
