What's the Deal at Penrith WS?

Postby Bruce Rd » Thu Sep 17, 2009 11:42 pm

Hey All

Is it just me or is $35 a lot to paddle at PWS. While PWS might be able to justify the cost - JUST! I don't see how they can justify not offering a reduced rate for a 1/2 day or even a 2 hour block. I doubt that my winge will change anything but if you don't say anything then everything goes unchallenged!

Hey Bruce, loved your work on the Waterfall Way last year ;)

$35 is a bit steep, what happened to the half day rate, I haven't been to PWS for a while it's a bit of hike for me.

$35 is still cheaper than driving to the snowies of north coast for the day whats wrong you bunch of scruges!! I can not see how they can do a half day rate or two hour rate as they would have to employ someone else to chase the paddlers to get off the water and return the bibs. canoeists, bike riders, buchwalkers are notorious rule breakers and so why would PWS give themselves more greaf. Next you will want the harbour bridge climb or parachuting business to offer a reduced rate as you just want to the the walk down the bridge or the parachute bit and not the flight. Get a life and get onto a real river. If you can not find any water blame the willows they are taking it all so go kill some of them

Yeah Bruce, what's your deal? I reckon $35 is actually pretty cheap considering the effort needed to pump all that water uphill! ;)

It would seem Bruce is not alone on this issue.

Wake up! $35 is great value! Look at the facilities that you have there, flush toilets, warm showers, easy access to the water, you barely have to carry your boat, conveyer belt to the top, consistent water flow from September to June. Try and find that anywhere else in Australia. I think we are very lucky to have a facility like PWS at our doorstep :D

Good Comment Shaz

I do know of another venue that provides a great paddle with great scenery including limestone caves and a thermal pool toilets and change rooms at the end of the paddle. there is also coffee available a short walk away. The only problem is the Yarrangobilly river is 5.5 hrs from Sydney. so as you say Penrith is great value although it is missing the scenery and excitement of maving to paddle through a natural arch near the end of the paddle.
