PaddleNSW Open Water Series Race 1 Revised: Now the 'Bay Runner 2012'
Due to concerns raised by NSW Maritime, and the consequent requirement to change the course, the 'Bay to Beaches' event will now be known as the 'Bay Runner', starting and finishing in Gunnamatta Bay, Cronulla. The problem was the 4km stretch of coastline from Inscription Point to Boat Harbour around Kurnell Peninsula.
It should be noted that the Waterways application was submitted 8 weeks prior to the event, and there was no notification of any problems until the week leading up to the event.
The PaddleNSW Open Water Committee, and Southern Districts Ocean Paddlers, offer their apologies to those inconvenienced by the changes. However, the event still promises to provide excellent downwind opportunities, and for the sake of the enormous amount of effort already provided by Race Director Steve Newsome, we hope all Open Water paddlers will come and support this great inaugural PNSW Ocean Series event.
