Marathon Officials Course THIS WEEKEND
Register now for the Marathon Officials Course to be conducted on February 4 at Narrabeen, in preparation for the 2012 National Canoe Marathon Championships at Penrith.
The course will be run over one day at Manly Warringah Kayak Club. This course aims to provide you with the all appropriate skills and knowledge to qualify as a Level 1 Marathon Official at Club, State or National level. The course will include both theoretical scenarios and practical on the water applications. Organisers expect to issue qualifications certificates after the one day course to competent participants. There is no cost for participants.
Topics include race rules, procedures, equipment, scrutineering, roles and responsibilities, safety and risk management. Recognition of prior learning and experience can contribute to this qualification.
The objective is to increase the number of trained officials at both club and State level who can assist in running endorsed races such as State, National and International events as well as your own club events. Kayakers can broaden there experience by participating at National and International events as officials. A number of Australian officials who have completed the course have participated as officials in recent World Cup and Championship events overseas.
All NSW Canoe clubs are encouraged to participate with at least two members, to register and receive more details email marathon
