Leisurely Lake Macquarie
The Central Coast Canoe Club is host to a superb recreational trip on Lake Macquarie.
We start at Wangi Caravan Park and cross the lake to Swansea South, past sand islands to Pelican Park for morning tea. We then paddle down the channel past the old airport and into Swan Bay, cross the lake to Coal Point and down into Kilaben Bay and across to Styles Point past old flying boat ramps to the lunch stop at Rathmines Catalina Park, where the WWII Catalina Memorial is. Back in our kayaks and up to Fishing Point, across to Arcadia Vale (where we can have a short break) before our return to Wangi to follow the shoreline back to the Caravan Park.
Grade: Intermediate. The conditions anticipated are considered to be not suitable to open, racing type paddlecraft or craft without positive floatation.
Distance: Approximately 20kms
Note: PFDs/Lifejackets will be required to be worn by all paddlers. Kayaks without self-draining cockpits should carry a suitable spray skirt, which can be fitted if conditions dictate. Participants should carry enough food and drink for the full day's paddle.
