SIRC News: Herbicide Treatment in the Competition Lake

After a year long political fight, SIRC is finally able to apply a Herbicide Treatment in the Competition Lake.

In an update from SIRC this week we've been advised the following:

"The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority have issued the Sydney International Regatta Centre with a Permit for Minor Use of Fluridone for suppression of Vallisneria and Hydrilla.

NSW para athlete, Colin Sieders​, is racing to qualify a berth at the Rio 2016​ Olympics tonight at 10:50 after qualifying for the final of the K1 200 KL1.

Meanwhile Murray Stewart​ will kick off his campaign in the K1 1000 Heats at 6:14 (yes in 45 minutes). Lachie Tame​ is also up racing today in the heats of the K2 1000 with Ken Wallace​ (QLD) at 8:46.

High Performance Paddlers stall in weed

Australia’s senior 1000m men protested against the state of the course at the Sydney International Regatta Centre on 17 January.

The venue was hosting the 2015 NSW Sprint Championships with the men making their stance in the opening race on Saturday morning.
