Sometimes when Riley Fitzsimmons looks around at the athletes next to him, he has to pinch himself to make sure he isn’t dreaming. Such has been the rapid rise from rookie paddler to Olympic squad member for 19-year-old Fitzsimmons, which has seen him develop into a strong chance to make the final men’s K4 1000 boat in Rio.

PaddleNSW and Goulburn paddler Breanna Reid has had a busy and successful 2015-16 season. She has performed well this year, winning many medals at major regattas, State and National Championships. The last few months have been very busy, juggling training, work, regattas, school and TAFE.

Vale Brian "Spags" Trouville

Brian "Spags" Trouville, the 73 year old paddling and surfing mentor and former champion athlete, passed away on 19 April 2016. Brian's memorial service at Caringbah was attended by 400+ family, loved ones and friends. PaddleNSW was represented by Laura White, Yvette Graf and CEO Peter Tate. It was a fitting send-off for a highly-respected and much-loved man.

PaddleNSW athletes make Olympic Hopes Team

Following the completion of selection trials, we congratulate the following athletes who have been selected to the Olympic Hopes Canoe Sprint Team to compete at the Junior Olympic Hopes Regatta in Szeged, Hungary from 23 to 25 September.
