2014 PNSW State Open Sprint Championships

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the 2014 NSW Open Sprint Championships over the weekend of Jan 18-19; competitors, coaches, parents, supporters, volunteers and officials. Your effort and cooperation was greatly appreciated, it helped to make the whole weekend run smoothly.

It dawned grey and rainy but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the 70-odd sprint paddlers drawn from the Sprint clubs of Sydney including Manly Warringah, Sydney Northern Beaches, Lane Cove, Burley Griffin, Southside and  others.

2013 Sprint Series Round 1 Wrap Up

After gale force winds wreaked havoc across Sydney the previous day, the first Regatta of the 2012 PNSW Sprint Series was shaping up to be a challenging event. As dawn broke on Saturday morning, competitors were faced with a moderated but still fresh South-Westerly breeze, a decent headwind down the course but thankfully no weed!

2013 PaddleNSW Sprint Series

The 2013 PaddleNSW Sprint Series consists of three sprint events at SIRC. The intention is to provide an opportunity for all PaddleNSW members to sprint at SIRC. Everyone, from first-timers to elite sprinters, are welcome. Races are graded so everyone gets to race against paddlers of similar speed. The schedule is a fast paced four hours with races at 1000m, 500m and 200m.

A host of PaddleNSW members who are NSWIS athletes were in the medals at the 2013 Australian Canoe Sprint Championships in Perth, with three eligible for berths on the Australian world cup team.

Parramatta Paddler makes National Stage

Andrew Williams is very new to the sport of kayaking.

In fact, he's very new to sport in general. The 26-year-old Parramatta paddler was born with spina bifida and, by his own admission, always lacked the drive and confidence to try his hand at sport.

But on the weekend he found himself competing at the Australian Canoe and Kayak Flatwater Championships in Perth.

NSW Paddlers Selected in 2013 Australian Junior Canoe Sprint Team

The 16-strong Junior team will compete in Welland, Canada at the Junior World Championships.

National Sprint Championships - WA

Best wishes to all PaddleNSW athletes competing in WA at the '13 National Sprint Championships.

Results are already coming in for NSW - congratulations to Keily Dober and Rachel Duncan, members of the victorious U16 WK4 500 crew who won their final today.
