A host of PaddleNSW members who are NSWIS athletes were in the medals at the 2013 Australian Canoe Sprint Championships in Perth, with three eligible for berths on the Australian world cup team.

Two serious car accidents have not finished him off, so it's unlikely a handful of the best kayakers in the world will pose much threat to Penrith paddler Colin Sieders.

Parramatta Paddler makes National Stage

Andrew Williams is very new to the sport of kayaking.

In fact, he's very new to sport in general. The 26-year-old Parramatta paddler was born with spina bifida and, by his own admission, always lacked the drive and confidence to try his hand at sport.

But on the weekend he found himself competing at the Australian Canoe and Kayak Flatwater Championships in Perth.

The 16-strong Junior team will compete in Welland, Canada at the Junior World Championships.

Lifejacket safety will be a focus of Boating Safety Officers’ activity on Sydney’s waterways with the launch of a new campaign encouraging everyone to wear lifejackets at all times when on the water.
