Lifestart Kayak for Kids 2014

The annual Lifestart Kayak for Kids fundraising event is coming up shortly on Sunday 30 March 2014.  A spectacular paddle from Blues Point, under the Harbour Bridge, stopping off at the beautiful beaches at Mosman Bay, Clifton Gardens and Balmoral before finishing at Clontarf.  This event is perfect for all paddlers - from the experienced to the complete novice with different options to suit.

Lifejacket requirements eased for paddlers under supervision
Transport for NSW today announced changes to marine safety laws will ease requirements for some paddlers to wear lifejackets while under the supervision of experienced and accredited coaches.

Lifejacket safety will be a focus of Boating Safety Officers’ activity on Sydney’s waterways with the launch of a new campaign encouraging everyone to wear lifejackets at all times when on the water.

It was a beautiful day on the Sydney Harbour yesterday – I have only been in the role as EO Paddle NSW for 10 days. I made my way to North Sydney yesterday morning at 8.30 to watch the start of the Lifestart event. What a sight that greeted me…the Lifestart Kayak for Kids was centre stage of the harbour.
