PaddleNSW Educators Conference 2012 – Sydney - Saturday June 30 Sunday July 1

Assessor and Presenter Training

PaddleNSW invites all experienced coaches and instructors to complete assessor and presentor training (this is a simplified version of the Certificate IV in Workplace training and will be accepted as the minimum training for assessors). Costs can be reimbursed from PaddleNSW if your Club endorses your work as a leading coach or Instructor.

Success for Swift Water Rescue Technician Course held 11-13 April

Fourteen participants braved some very cold weather to train up on rescue techniques for emergency situations. You do have to look on the bright side, as lead instructor Morgan Masuku declared, that the high river levels of the Nymboida last week may have created more problems than they could deal with.

The 2012 PaddleNSW Conference for current PaddleNSW educators being held at Penrith Lakes and the Whitewater Stadium (Sydney) will be rescheduled to end June.  Australian Canoeing is currently reviewing the ACAS scheme, the process for accrediting assessors and the framework for coach courses, including the Open Water Course.

L1 Flatwater Coach Course - Day 1 Sunday April 22 & Day 2 Saturday May 26

It is time to register in the L1 Flatwater Coach Course at Narrabeen MWKC Clubhouse. This course is also the pre-requisite of the Open Water Coaching course, so do it now while you have the opportunity. 

Sunday April 22 - Day 1 (this day follows the Woronora Marathon)
Saturday May 26 - Day 2 (this day precedes the Narrabeen Marathon)

Success - 5 new Flatwater Guides with Moving Water endorsement for Western NSW

What with the Lachlan and Macquarie in flood, it seemed timely that PaddleNSW last weekend qualified a number of teachers from Orange to manage school groups on moving water.  The first day was spent reviewing flatwater skills and knowledge on Laker Burrendong, before on the second day moving the group to the Macquarie River at Wellington.
