Tom Simmat wins NSW Veteran Athlete of the Year for 2011

At the NSW Sports Federation Annual Awards night on 16 February, Tom Simmat, one of PaddleNSW' two nominations, deservedly collected the 2011 Veteran Athlete of the Year award. Slalom paddler Rosalyn Lawrence, our second nomination, narrowly missed out in a hotly contested field for the Young Athlete of the Year award.

Tom's award recognises his great string of results in Marathon and Ultra-Marathon events, and was achieved without taking into account his spectacular win in the Yukon 1600km race the previous year. PaddleNSW congratulates him on his award.
