The NSW Marathon 10 series, as the name suggests, is a series of 10 Marathon races over the 2010 year. Every 4 weeks or so, these events are held over distances of  20km, 15km and 10km in relatively protected flat water courses, under a divisional system.

There are 6 divisions in the 20km distances, and most paddlers compete at this distance. Division 7 and 8 are 15km, while division 9 is 10km. You will be paddling amongst others of around your speed, and the divisions are based on your pace, and not the type of boat you paddle.

In accordance with international standards for Marathon, portages are incorporated into the events where possible. For the Marathon 10 series,  portages are included for Division 1 and Division 7.

Division 7 is designed for juniors to gain much-needed experience at all aspects of Marathon, including portaging, and racing in this division is recommended for juniors. Each event involves  several laps of approximately 5 km, with a portage on each lap for division 1 and 7 if possible. Some venues are unsuitable for portages.

Spectators are welcome, and have a great view of paddlers as they pass the finish area each lap.

The Marathon 10 series is great fun, and provides excellent competition.
